Pixel 6: Will Google use its own chipset?

Google is working on its own system on a chip (SOC) - the news spread last year.  The new news says that the famous search giant will use its first SOC in the next flagship.

9 to 5 Google reports that the chipset is code-named 'Whitechapel'.  The Pixel phone is expected to arrive this fall.  The idea is that the chipset will be seen on that phone.

As previously reported, Whitechapel SOC may be used on phones and Chromebooks.  The news came that Google is working with Samsung to make the processor.

Not only Whitechapel, but also some of the code names of Google chips mentioned in the report 9 to 5 Google.  Such names include "GS 101", "Slider" etc.  Note that Google Silicon may be the full form of GS.

Slider, on the other hand, is thought to be "the first Whitechapel SOC's shared platform."  9 to 5 Google has mentioned that Slider is involved with other projects.  The code names of the two projects are 'Raven' and 'Oriol'.  These two code names are for the upcoming flagship pixel in autumn, one of which may be Pixel 6.

Google declined to comment.  In the meantime, companies like Apple, Samsung, Huawei and Xiaomi have announced that they will make devices with their own chipsets.  Engadget commented that there is nothing surprising in Google following the same path.
